Zeke von Zurich is a large, handsome and sweet 2 year
old German Shepherd. Two of our volunteers were visiting a high kill shelter to evaluate a dogs and asked where Zeke was. They were told he was supposed to be killed that morning, but because of shortage of staff and a medical emergency, his death was postponed till 5 p.m. He was already at the euthanasia holding facility waiting his fate just a few hrs. away. The kennel manager didn't like him, said he's not a nice dog. The first thing our volunteer did was call out his name, and Zeke wagged his tail. He just appeared to be shy and scared. They took him out and he did some basic commands and licked our volunteer and buried his head in his chest. He trusted again! Zeke will bond deeply to his new person, as is with most shepherds. He will also be protective if warrants. He is a beautifull dog who was neglected in the backyard, his fly strikes attest to that.
